Is Christiansen about to “self-destruct” with his “major plan” for January?

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen doesn’t think recruiting players in next month’s transfer window to help push his side’s Premier League promotion ambitions is essential.

The Danish tactician was questioned during Friday’s presser ahead of weekend’s QPR clash about his plans for January, and while he didn’t rule out making additions to the squad, he claims to be clearly convinced his current team can make top 6 come May.

If there is any team that badly need quality signings in the Championship, it’s Leeds.

What happens during the January window will go a long way in determining if the Elland Road outfit will finish in top 2, top 6, win or lose the playoffs, or finish outside the coveted and targeted positions entirely.

Obviously, this squad can really do with a really good left-back, a centre-back and a goalscoring striker going into the most decisive half of the campaign.

The lack of depth is a big issue a club aiming to return to the topflight after many years of failed attempts must endeavor to put to bed with the only opportunity next month’s window presents.

Not doing enough and quality business next month will be Christiansen looking to “self-destruct” what could be his only chance to take Leeds up.
