Has this decision just ruined Rangers’ January transfer plans?

It’s no longer news that Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has officially rejected Rangers managerial offer, with interim boss Graeme Murty to continue being in temporary charge till the end of the year.

While the head of the development squad is doing pretty well in the position, McInnes’ decision to snub the Light Blues might deal a heavy blow on the club’s January transfer plans.

The quartet of Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean, Hearts midfielder Jamie Walker, Motherwell striker Louis Moult and St Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan are seen as some of Rangers’ top targets when the transfer window reopens.

However, the latest development could see any chances of landing them go down the drain, with the managerial uncertainty likely to dissuade the players and other transfer targets from considering a move to Ibrox.

It will also present suitors with an upper hand, with the likes of Celtic and English Championship clubs now with a better chance of making a clean and unchallenged swoop.

It’s unclear if Murty will be allowed to buy players next month, and unless Rangers make a move to appoint him permanently, it could be an uneventful winter transfer window for the club.

Their campaign could take a heavy hit as a result.
