As per reports, Everton boss Sam Allardyce has identified Arsenal forward Theo Walcott as a top target during the January transfer window.
The Merseysiders have struggled since the departure of star striker Romelu Lukaku, and Big Sam reckons the Gunners’ wideman can help add much-needed pace to his attack.
Given Walcott’s versatility which makes him capable of playing as a number 9, Everton are also hoping he can be able to help replace some of the goals of the departed Belgian.
The 3-time F.A Cup-winning forward is yet to start a Premier League game this term, coming off the bench just thrice.
However, he has been part of a second-string Arsenal side in their Europa League campaign, starting 5 games, scoring thrice and assisting twice.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be more than willing to let Walcott go in January, but is he really capable of filling the big shoes of Lukaku at Everton?
While the 28-year-old is quite not the lethal and most prolific of finishers, he has proven himself whenever he’s afforded a run of games.
The former Southampton whizkid scored 10 league goals last term, and 9 others across all competitions.
It was that form that earned him a spot on Allardyce’s squad in his short-lived reign in charge of the Three Lions, and with the desire to return to the national team squad ahead of next year’s World Cup definitely burning in him, Walcott could hit the ground running at Goodison Park if snapped up.
