Everton handed boost as Liverpool suffer crushing blow ahead of clash

The Merseyside derby is going down on Sunday as Liverpool host Everton at Anfield as the 2017-18 Premier League season enters matchday 16.

Having recently picked up their first ever back-to-back league victories of the campaign, the Blues will be hoping to leave the red half of the city with at least a draw.

Sam Allardyce’s charges appear to have been somewhat boosted ahead of the clash, as Liverpool suffered a crushing blow on Wednesday night despite a ruthless 7-nil Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow.

The Reds left-back Alberto Moreno picked up a knock during the first-half of the clash, and is now a huge doubt for Sunday’s game against Everton.

It’s a blow manager Jurgen Klopp is left ruing, with the German claiming post-game: “We had a little shadow on the night when Alberto Moreno needed to get substituted. It was a strange situation.

“He is a tough guy and if he cannot continue the game then you should consider it could be something serious.

”In the treatment room then, he was a little bit more positive, so maybe we are lucky and it’s not too serious. We will see.

“We need all the boys for the next few weeks, but especially in this week for the next game on Sunday…”

Having not beaten Liverpool in 14 encounters since a 2-0 league win in 2010, the Toffees will be hoping to shock their neighbours by weekend.

Just 1 loss in the last 5 league games shows how better Everton have since recently become following a poor start to the season, and nothing can be ruled out against the Reds as far as getting a victory goes.
