Leeds have been boosted in their chances of landing Sheffield Wednesday young striking sensation George Hirst having failed in the summer.
Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri revealed that a bid for the 18-year-old from “nearby Championship club” – Leeds – was turned down.
However, the situation could all change following an impasse over contract negotiations that have since hit the rocks, with Chansiri claiming: “It seems there is little more we can do to keep George at Sheffield Wednesday.”
George has just a single Championship outing to his name, and hasn’t seen action this term.
However, he has shown lots of promises, as he emerged England’s top goalscorer as the country won the Toulon Tournament in the summer.
The teenager will be linking up with Leeds under-23’s if he is signed in January, and while the prospect of that wouldn’t excite a lot of fans, the club could be landing a future gem on their hands if George is signed.
