As per the Sunday Mirror, Celtic have been dealt a huge blow in their attempts to land Manchester City teenage midfield sensation Phil Foden on loan in January.
The 17-year-old helped England to the junior World Cup trophy months ago, and has since attracted a lot of suitors.
However, City boss Pep Guardiola wants Foden around for the fixtures-filled months ahead, and also reckons regularly training with the first-team stars will do him plenty of good, as opposed to any loan.
Celtic have Europa League football in sight and will also look to stay unbeaten domestically till the end of the season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to make few additions to the squad over the January transfer window, and did see Foden as a quality option.
The highly-rated midfielder impressed in India for England, and could provide some Patrick Roberts-esque type of loan services for the Hoops.
However, his suitors, including Celtic, will now have to turn attention elsewhere with Pep ruling out a temporary exit for one of his gems.
