Juventus are believed to be looking to beat Liverpool to the signature of Dutch defender, Virgil Van Dijk, according to the Daily Star.
Liverpool endured an embarrassing summer transfer window after failing to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton even after the defender had openly expressed his desire to join the Reds by submitting a formal transfer request.
Despite this stance from van Dijk, Liverpool failed to land the defender and the transfer saga ended with bad blood between the two clubs after the Saints accused the Reds of making an illegal approach for the player.
Nonetheless, many news outlets have maintained Liverpool to be the favorites to land the defender in the upcoming transfer windows in January but it now looks like they are going to face new competition in race to sign the Dutchman.
In the latest twist, reports from the Daily Star suggest that Juventus are now interested in the towering Netherland international as they believed the Dutchman to be the ideal replacement for Leonardo Bonucci and Liverpool now face a real battle on their hands.
