According to a report published by The Mirror as reported by Tribal Football, Italian giants Juventus have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk was a priority target of the Reds during the summer transfer window and they went on to submit three bids for him, all of which were rejected by the Saints.
The 26 year old Van Dijk was reportedly keen to leave the Saints during the summer and is said to be still keen on leaving them.
Considering that Liverpool’s defence has often been guilty of sloppiness, there is a good chance that they will once again attempt to sign him. However they are likely to face competition from the Old Lady of Italian football.
Southampton have so far refused to be coerced into a sale, however judging from the fact that the Dutch international appears to be disgruntled, it is perhaps only a matter of time before they have to do so.
