According to a report published by the Telegraph, Everton turned to former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas after their advances for Watford boss Marco Silva were turned down. However he too rejected the Merseyside club’s offer.
Villas-Boas recently left his position as manager of Shanghai SIPG in China and now intends to take a break from the game.
Everton however tried to make an approach for him to see if he would be interested in becoming their manager but the Portuguese manager declined the offer.
As a result the Toffees are now hoping to recruit Sam Allardyce as their new manager. Allardyce had been linked with the Toffees a few weeks ago, however the club and veteran manager were unable to agree upon a deal.
Everton are currently in 16th position on the League standings and Allardyce has developed a reputation for helping clubs avoid relegation, which means that he could be ideal for their current situation.
