As per Spanish magazine Don Balon, Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro is attracting the interests of Premier League trio Everton, Newcastle United and Tottenham ahead of the January transfer window.
Already firmly behind Antoine Griezmann in the pecking order, Diego Costa’s return in January will further limit Gameiro’s playing opportunities at the La Liga club, and an exit could be on the cards.
Having struggled to replace the goals of Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees will surely be bringing in another striker at the turn of the year.
Since arriving Spain, the Frenchman has bagged 67 goals in 144 games for Sevilla and another 20 goals in 56 appearances for Atletico, and he will fit the bill at Goodison Park.
If Spurs will actually be recruiting in winter remains to be seen given they hardly buy during that time of the season.
Gameiro is bound to be behind Harry Kane should he agree to a north London switch, and with regular playing time his desire ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup, a move is unlikely.
While a striker of his quality will surely walk into the starting XI at Saint James’ Park, if the Toons can afford him, without a new owner, is another issue entirely.
A move to Everton and Newcastle is more feasible if the clubs can meet Gameiro’s and Atletico’s demands, and his goals can surely help the struggling duo to a solid finish in the Premier League.
