The Liga MX playoffs are coming to a close as the tournament is now in the semifinal stage of the Apertura 2017. The more enticing of the two semifinal encounters is the match between Club America and Tigres UANL as both teams have very talented rosters, here are four players to watch in this game.

1.Guido Rodriguez

With a very offensively potent Tigres’ side, Miguel Herrera will most likely try and play a more defensive game against his rivals. At the heart of the break-up play and the interceptions is defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez, who will need to be key in this game at the Estadio Azteca. The Argentine was solid in the second leg against Cruz Azul, his pass accuracy was not the bets at just 69-percent but he did win 14 of 20 duels, with two clearances, two interceptions and a blocked shot. Tigres does not have someone like Rodriguez in its midfield and the 23-year-old could be the key to success for Las Aguilas.

2.Andre-Pierre Gignac

The French striker scored in the second leg against Leon after 551 minutes since his last goal in the Liga MX for Tigres UANL. The goal was nothing spectacular, a header off a corner but it could be what opens the floodgates for Gignac to start scoring and get into his groove. The European forward usually does step up in these high-caliber games and should be one of the main players to keep an eye on this Wednesday.

3.Oribe Peralta

Club America is yet to score a goal in the Liga MX playoffs and has only scored two goals in its last six Liga MX games. Miguel Herrera’s offense has looked very uninspiring lately and the man that needs to step it up and ignite the team is the club captain Oribe Peralta. The Mexican striker was the top scorer for the Mexico City team in the regular Apertura season with six goals and can be the most dangerous player on the squad on his day. Peralta was dismal in the quarterfinal matchup against Cruz Azul as he had just three shots in two games and inclusively missed a penalty and will now look to get back on track.

4.Eduardo Vargas

The Chilean has been phenomenal so far in the playoffs, playing just behind striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. Vargas has a goal but has been excellent at generating play with 58 passes in two games, five key passes, eight of nine long balls and four of six successful dribble attempts. The 28-year-old held very high passing accuracies in his two playoff games against Leon and has clearly been crucial to Ricardo Ferretti’s attack.
