Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth has reportedly been informed that he will not be appointed as the club’s new full-time manager.
Unsworth has served as interim manager of the Toffees senior side since they opted to part ways with Ronald Koeman following their defeat against Arsenal last month.
Since the sacking of Koeman, Unsworth has been one of the candidates who has been linked with the full-time job.
However the club has not shown much progress under him and controversial pundit Joey Barton who is a fan of the Toffees recently suggested that the club could be relegated if they opt to keep Unsworth on.
Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri made it clear on Friday in a report sent to talkSport presenter Jim White that Unsworth is not in the running and that the club is closing in on appointing a new boss.
Moshiri said: “The first priority is to stabilise the club and finalise the appointment of a manager. We are close.”
