Liverpool and Tottenham are chasing Stevenage’s young defender Ben Wilmot, according to the Daily Mail.
Wilmot made his debut last month against MK Dons and has since gone on to impress further by putting in a stunning performance against Premier League side Brighton in a 3-1 win for the League two side in the EFL Cup a few months ago.
The 18-year-old was praised by his manager Darren Sarll following the Brighton match for his understanding of the game he displayed as well as for his confidence to show his talent on the pitch despite his tender years.
In addition to his own manager, Wilmot seems to have impressed other teams as well and the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool are allegedly trailing the talented defender at the moment.
Both Tottenham and Liverpool reportedly had sent their scouts to search for talented young players during Stevenage’s famous victory against Brighton and the Premier League side’s representatives were thoroughly impressed by Wilmot’s performance.
It will now be interesting to see if either Tottenham or Liverpool make a move and also to see how the youngster’s future will pan out, as very rarely does a player fulfill the huge hype surrounding them during their teenage years.
