David Moyes couldn’t have a dream start to new life at being a manager again, as his West Ham side were handed a footballing lesson at Vicarage Road by Watford at the weekend.

Relegation continues to stare the Hammers in the face as they have won just 2 and lost 7 of their opening 12 Premier League games in 2017-18.

The Scot has been tasked with saving the club after Slaven Bilic was sacked due to the poor results, and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes there is more than enough quality within the West Ham squad for them to survive the drop with ease.

The Gunners legend wrote thus in his The Sun column concerning how Moyes can help the 18th placed side that: “Moyes was desperate to get back into football and — despite the Hammers being in the bottom three — they DO have better players than he had at Sunderland.

“The one thing he did have up there was a goalscorer, in Jermain Defoe.

“But he’s got a couple this time, too, in Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez. The key is keeping them fit.

“If he can do that, I’d be telling the rest not to worry about the expansive stuff — just get it into the box for those two as quickly as possible.

“With that pair up top, and Manuel Lanzini just behind to mop up anything that breaks, there’s no reason why they can’t start scoring again.”

Chicharito missed the 2-0 loss to Watford due to injuries, while Carroll’s frequent visits to the treatment table are well-documented.

The duo has proven how lethal they can be in front of goal on their day, and keeping them fit and getting them the right service will definitely help West Ham.

The Mexican has 4 league goals thus far while his English counterpart is yet to open his account for the season.
