Pundit reveals grave mistake he believes Celtic made with Premier League star

Former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk is now a Premier League hot property at Southampton, with the likes of Liverpool and the Manchester clubs interested in his services.

The Dutch centre-back left Parkhead in the summer of 2015 for £13million, just 2 years after arriving from Groningen for £2.6 million.

Despite selling van Dijk for 5 times the amount he was bought for, BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton believes Celtic sold the 26-year-old on the cheap.

Considering how his value has skyrocketed over the last 2 summers, with the Saints now rating their skipper around £80million, the former Chelsea striker doesn’t want the Hoops to repeat the mistake with Moussa Dembele.

Sutton wants Scottish teams to stop undervaluing their players, urging Celtic to quote at least £30million for the French striker.

Dembele, alongside left-back Kieran Tierney, is wanted by Premier League big sides and the duo will most likely leave next summer.

Given their consistent forms and brilliant performances over the last 2 seasons, Celtic mustn’t sell themselves short when conducting transfer business for the duo.
