Joey Barton has claimed that Everton will be relegated should they opt to stick with interim boss David Unsworth as manager.
The Toffees have been without a boss since they parted ways with Ronald Koeman last month following their 5-2 defeat against Arsenal. Since then Unsworth has been leading the club.
They appear to not be showing many signs of improvement since the U-23 boss took charge having only won one out of their five games under him thus far.
The Toffees did attempt to appoint Watford boss Marco Silva twice and failed and this has meant that they have had to stick with Unsworth.
Barton who is an Everton fan himself believes that the club could face the possibility of relegation if they stick with Unsworth.
“If Everton stay with [Unsworth], they’re going to get relegated, there’s no doubt about it,” Barton told talkSPORT.
“He’s a former defender and he can’t set his team up to defend. They’ve shipped at least two goals in every game he’s been in charge. They’re conceding goals left, right and centre.”
