Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his beliefs that the club can convince the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to extend their current deals at the Emirates Stadium.
Both Ozil and Sanchez are into the final years of their respective contracts at Arsenal and the two players look very likely to move away from the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Many Arsenal fans have even conceded defeat in their hopes of Ozil and Sanchez staying in North London, suggesting that Arsenal should get some fee by selling them early during the upcoming January transfer window.
However, manager Arsene Wenger is still optimistic about convincing Ozil and Sanchez to sign a new deals and the veteran manager expressed his reasons in his most recent post-match interview.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 success over Tottenham, the French manager told the media, “You have to give me credit on that. I know them well and I know when these guys go on the pitch they want to win the game and they have shown that commitment again today.
“Am I convinced they will stay? The quality of the contract has to be good and enough for them as well. am convinced they love the club, they love the team but when will the rest be decided? I don’t really know.
“Is money the sticking point? No, but it is part of it, the whole thing has to be right, they have to be happy. I believe they love the club and want to stay but other clubs, other top clubs, offer good contracts as well.”
