Newcastle United’s Florian Lejeune has blasted Tottenham star Harry Kane.
Lejeune who arrived at the Magpies from Spanish club Eibar during the summer transfer window damaged ankle ligaments following a clash with Kane on the opening day of the season and this left him on the sidelines for several weeks.
The game was Lejeune’s first League game in English football and it would obviously been a bad introduction to the game. He has since revealed that he has forgiven Kane, however he did add that he was angry that the striker did not apologize.
He said: “At first, I was angry. We all make mistakes, we all commit fouls but I think an apology would have been good, especially from such a great player, the England captain, but I have never received one.
“Was it a red card? Yes. It is important to punish such tackles. It was a difficult time, a very difficult time for me because I had only just arrived here, at a new club and a new country and I was trying to establish myself in the team. I had prepared very well and then suddenly I got injured and I was very frustrated.”
Lejeune has since established himself as an important member of Rafa Benitez’s squad and has started the last four games for his side.
