Arsenal manager Wenger not questioning referee following Tottenham victory

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that referee Mike Dean got key decisions right during his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in the North London derby on Saturday.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino criticized the referee’s decision making on the day as he felt that it was of benefit to Wenger’s side who went on to win through goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez.

Mustafi’s header came after a dubious free-kick was awarded following a tackle on Sanchez.  Alexandre Lacazette also appeared to be offside during the build up to the second goal.

When asked if his team may have benefitted from bad refereeing, Wenger replied saying: “I don’t think so. Two weeks ago we conceded a goal that was not marginally offside, it was a yard offside, and nobody found a word to say.

“I watched it again – it’s not true that he was offside. And it was a foul. When we concede goals, it’s absolutely normal, even when they are a yard offside. When we may be offside, I have to answer that in a press conference.”
