Newcastle travel to Old Trafford to face title challengers Manchester United on Sunday, and they will need to be in their element to have a chance of leaving with a point.
The Magpies suffered consecutive losses prior to the international break, and getting a result against the Red Devils could prove to be a big ask given their injury woes.
Ahead of the clash, manager Rafa Benitez confirmed that the quartet of Paul Dummett, Christian Atsu, Jamaal Lascelles and Mikel Merino are all ruled out.
Lascelles suffered an ankle injury against Bournemouth last time out, while Christian Atsu has been struggling with a thigh problem – one that seems to have been aggravated while he was on international duty with Ghana.
Dummett has been sidelined since the first game of the season with a hamstring problem but has recently returned to full training.
However, Benitez is planning to slowly ease the 26-year-old back into action.
Merino is expected to be sidelined for another fortnight due to a lower-back problem.
The Spaniard could be back soon, though, as he was pictured on Thursday in light training.
