Rangers have yet to replace dismissed manager Pedro Caixinha more than 3 weeks after showing the Portuguese the exit door.
The club’s development squad head coach Graeme Murty is currently in temporary charge of the side, and will oversee his 3rd game in charge of Hamilton on Saturday having led them to back to back victories against Hearts and Partick Thistle.
A lot of candidates have been linked with the job, and it was widely expected that the board would have made a decision over the international break.
Former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson believes an appointment could be made over the next week, although, he’s also surprised they have taken so long to finalize a move.
Ferguson told Betsafe: “I am surprised as I thought they would make an appointment over the international break.
“But obviously they are taking their time as they need to get this one right or they don’t have the finances to go and get the right man in place.
“It’s about a waiting game and obviously Graeme Murty has come in and led them to two victories and he will lead them again on Saturday.
“I expect something to happen over the next week or so.”
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is regarded as the favorite for the job, but has always denied ever being approached by Rangers.
Should Murty continue to impress, though, the club might see no need to quickly get a permanent manager.
