Senegal secured a spot in next year’s World Cup with a 2-1 victory over South Africa on Tuesday night, and West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate was very instrumental to the cause for the Teranga Lions.
His performances caught the eyes of many agents and clubs, and his agent Saffet Balkan revealed to Turkish-Football that: “We have received a lot of interest.
“Interest spiked after Senegal qualified for the World Cup yesterday. Several clubs and agents want to hold talks.
“The Italian and Premier League scouts have been very impressed.”
Kouyate has been an integral powerhouse in the West Ham midfield since completing a £6.5million move from Anderlecht in the summer of 2014.
The 27-year-old has 4 years on his current deal having penned a 5-year extension last summer, and should the Hammers agree to an exit, it wouldn’t come cheap.
Kouyate’s versatility has come handy for the east London outfit, often featuring him at centre-back whenever the need arises.
He has missed just 2 league games this term, and is set to feature even prominently in the plans of new boss David Moyes going forward.
