Arsenal have received a blow as striker Olivier Giroud has been ruled out for their North London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.
Giroud picked up a thigh strain while on duty for the France national team during their 2-0 win over Wales in a friendly international during the international break and he has not managed to recover in time to play for his side during their match against Spurs.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger said: “Giroud picked up an injury, I don’t think he will be available. It’s short term, we have to assess him on Monday.”
Meanwhile while they will be without Giroud, the Gunners have also received a boost as Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck could be in line to make their returns during the game.
Mustafi has not played in over a month since suffering a knock while playing for Germany against Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier. Welbeck has been out since sustaining a hamstring problem when his side lost to Watford on October 14.
