Everton chief Moshiri confirms Unsworth is in the running for the permanent job

Everton majority holder Farhad Moshiri has confirmed that interim boss David Unsworth is on the shortlist of candidates to become the club’s new full-time manager.

Unsworth has been in temporary charge of the club following the sacking of Ronald Koeman last month following the defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League.

The club completed its first victory under Unsworth this past weekend by recording a dramatic 3-2 victory over Watford.

Sky Sports presenter Jim White confirmed on Twitter on Monday that Moshiri said of Unsworth: “Unsworth embodies the spirit of Everton and is on the shortlist to be boss.”

Meanwhile former West Ham and England national team boss Sam Allardyce is currently the favorite to succeed Koeman.

Allardyce is an ideal candidate as he has a wealth of experience at the highest level in management and also has a good reputation for being able to get the best out of players who are low in confidence.
