According to The Times, West Ham will have to part with £2million compensation fee having chosen to show Slaven Bilic the exit door.
The Croatian tactician, whose contract was to end at the end of the campaign, left the Hammers in the relegation places following 2 wins, 3 draws and 6 losses.
The 49-year-old took charge of West Ham in the 2015, helping them to a 7th place finish in his maiden campaign. However, a poor campaign last term and another woeful start to the new season cost him his job.
The Hammers have recently appointed former Sunderland manager David Moyes as Bilic’s successor. Moyes was considered for the West Ham job back in 2015, as his achievements at Everton are well-admired by the club’s owners.
Since leaving Goodison Park, though, things haven’t panned out quiet well for the Scot.
He was fired at Manchester United and Real Sociedad, before resigning at Sunderland having failed to keep them in the Premier League last term.
If he would be able to improve West Ham’s fortunes remains to be seen, but his appointment could be worth the gamble in the end given his wealth of experience.
