Newcastle United have suffered a major blow after captain Jamaal Lascelles had to leave the field on crutches following their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Lascelles had to leave the field after 55 minutes after failing to recover from a knock which he sustained during the first half and confirmed that he will be undergoing a scan on Monday.
Lascelles is a key part of the Magpies team and has done an impressive job leading the team. They will certainly be hoping that he will be fit in time for the match against Manchester United after the international break.
Meanwhile after the defeat, Magpies manager Rafa Benitez was disappointed but refused to panic by saying: “Our reality is that we have to keep doing things in the same way as we did before.
“Sometimes it will go well, sometimes not. From September 1, I was worried and what I did was to work harder, and that is what I will do now.”
