Recent reports from Bleacher Report suggest that the main reason for Liverpool’s inability to tie up Emre Can’s contract is due to the German’s high wage demands.
Emre Can is into the final year of his current deal at Liverpool and the talks to extend the German’s stay at the club has faltered after both sides failed to agree on his weekly wages.
It has been reported that Can is looking for a wage package to match that of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho which is around £160,000-per-week but Liverpool are only prepared to pay a maximum of £75,000-per-week to the midfielder.
Considering the gap in wage valuation, it looks very unlikely that both sides will agree to a compromise which means Can might leave Anfield after his contract expires at the end of the current season.
Interest in Can is high at the moment as he is being trailed by the likes of Juventus and Bayern among others and a departure from Liverpool might actually benefit the German in terms of progression in his career.
