Pickford believes that Everton are too good to suffer this fate

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford thinks that his side are too good to get relegated this season. The Toffees currently lie in 18th position on the Premier League standings after taking just eight points from ten games.

Despite the team’s bad fortunes this season, Pickford has been one of the few bright sparks and has pulled off some fine saves.

The Toffees were expected to challenge for a top four finish ahead of the season due to the extensive shopping which they did during the summer transfer window.

However based on the way that they are currently playing, it looks like they could struggle to avoid relegation.

Pickford believes that his side simply have too much quality to get relegated and said: “It’s been hard for Dom (Calvert-Lewin) up top this season and the luck hasn’t been there for him.

“He has worked his socks off game in game out. He has scored a fair few goals but I think it’s been hard to replace Lukaku. I wasn’t here but I think he just pops up and scores. I think Dom has been brilliant for us.”

Pickford also believes that his side have too much quality to get out of the mess which they are currently in and added: “Definitely. You have Rooney, you have people who have won medals like the senior players and that is where they help us.

“That is when the young lads now become big characters when they wear their hearts on their sleeves in the games. We won’t be struggling, it will only make us go forward and get the wins that we need.”
