Liverpool legend dismisses claims of ex-Everton boss Ronald Koeman

Steve Mcmanaman has dismissed comments made by recently sacked former Everton boss Ronald Koeman who claimed that he would have saved his job should the signing of Olivier Giroud been completed.

The Toffees are currently struggling in the Premier League with just eight points from ten games. One of the major criticisms which they have earned is due to the failure to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United during the summer.

The Merseyside club have been hitting the back of the net on a less frequent basis following the departure of the Belgian.

Koeman did attempt to sign Giroud from Arsenal though the Frenchman opted to stay put at the Gunners. The Dutch manager also claimed that he would have saved his job had he managed to land Giroud.

McManaman however does not agree with this and said on BT Sport: “You’d hate to say that he was the superstar that they couldn’t get, I mean, I think he is clutching at straws a little bit there.”
