Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has revealed that he feels that Tottenham defender Ben Davies reminds him of Manchester United great Dennis Irwin.
During his time with the Red Devils, Irwin was never one who grabbed headlines on a regular basis, however his work-ethic and performances at the back were a key part of the United team at the time.
Davies has so far had a very good season and Redknapp believes that he is developing into a key element of the Spurs first team.
Prior to this season, Davies found first team football hard to come by on a regular basis, as he was overlooked in favor of Danny Rose. However he has certainly made the most of his opportunities since Rose was injured in January.
“Ben Davies reminds me of Dennis Irwin,” Redknapp said. “Every game eight or nine out of 10. He’s such a calm and composed young man, and he’s so good on the ball.”
