This Wednesday, October 25, 2017 (6:30 PM Pacific) Monterrey will host UdeG at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer for a match in the round of 16 in the Copa MX. This game is set to be a huge mismatch as both teams are living very distinct moments in their respective leagues.
Monterrey is currently first in the Liga MX with 30 points with a game in hand and finished as the third-best team in the Copa MX with 10 points. Antonio Mohamed had said that he does value the Copa MX competition and may use several key players in this game to assure his team’s place in the quarterfinals. Los Rayados have only lost one game in the Liga MX but it came against arguably the worst team in the league, Puebla, which does give hope to a team like Leones Negros in a game like this.
UdeG is struggling in the Ascenso MX, currently in 13th place with 13 points but did finish second in Group 1 of the Copa MX to get this round of 16 fixture. Manager Jorge Davalos does not count with the most exciting roster, the standout player being former Toluca and Cruz Azul striker Ismael Valadez. Monterrey is the clear favorite heading into the game especially with the home-field advantage but the match could still prove to be an exciting fixture.
