Liverpool send scouts to Portugal to watch talented attacker

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Benfica youngster Nuno Santos in action in the Uefa Youth League.

The 18 year old drew attention to his performances when he scored twice for his club during a 5-1 drubbing of CSKA Moscow earlier in the summer.

He then followed up his brace by scoring for his club during their 2-2 draw with Manchester United recently. Benfica have recently been a source of players for big-name English clubs.

This summer transfer window saw defender Victor Lindelof and goalkeeper Ederson join Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

Santos is certainly showing a lot of promise and if the Reds want to save cash then now will be the right time to sign him as his value will escalate in the future as he continues to get better.

Though Santos has yet to appear for the Benfica senior side, he is a regular for the reserve side which plays in the second tier of Portuguese football.
