Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been named in the Senegal squad that will play in World Cup qualifiers next month despite currently being on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.
The 25 year old could not participate in Liverpool’s Premier League encounter against Manchester United last weekend as a result of a hamstring injury which he sustained while on international duty against the Cape Verde islands.
Senegal coach Aliou Cisse appears confident that Mane will be fit again when his team takes on South Africa in World Cup qualifiers on November 10 and 14.
Senegal require just two points to qualify for the World Cup and this is probably why they will be anxious to see Mane play for them.
“In my mind there’s no doubt he will be with us for the double header against South Africa and that he will be 100 per cent fit,” Cisse told a news conference in Dakar.
“Until now, he has just been doing some individual training – running in straight lines – but from next week, he is going to train harder and start working with the ball.”
