Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has claimed that Gylfi Sigurdsson is struggling to hit the ground running at Everton because he has no striker to take advantage of his creativity.
Despite having spent heaving on bringing new players during the summer, the Toffees sold Romelu Lukaku and failed to find a seasoned striker to replace the Belgian international.
After arriving from Swansea during the summer, big things were expected off Sigurdsson, however he has so far failed to deliver and has not as yet registered his first Premier League goal for the team.
Carragher has now stated his belief that Everton’s lack of forward options is why Sigurdsson is struggling to find form.
Carragher said, “A lot of the time he was being judged on his assists at Swansea. But you always need someone to finish it off.
“If Everton have not got that out-and-out goalscorer they have very few players to get on the end of crosses so Sigurdsson’s numbers will be badly affected by the lack of a striker.”
