Tony Gale makes worrying admission for West Ham attacker Andy Carroll

Tony Gale has said that Andy Carroll’s red card which he received during the weekend during a Premier League game against Burnley could result in him losing his place within the Hammers squad on a permanent basis to Javier Hernandez.

The 28 year old Carroll was sent off during the first half of the game after receiving two yellow cards within the space of 90 seconds.

The Hammers were leading 1-0 at the time and although they had to play the majority of the game with ten men, they managed to keep their lead till late on in the game when Chris Wood eventually managed to find an equalizer for the Clarets.

Gale now believes that the red-card could result in Carroll losing his place within the Hammers squad on a permanent basis to Hernandez.

“It was a stupid challenge,” Gale told Premier League Daily. “It’s a shame for him because he’s just getting back to fitness. He needs six games to get back to fitness, then bang he does that – he’s out.

“All of a sudden West Ham might change the way they play, Hernandez goes up front, [Diafra] Sakho goes up front, he may not get back in the team.”
