Everton keen on making a shock managerial replacement for Koeman

According to a report published by the Sun, Everton are interested in replacing manager Ronald Koeman with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.

The Toffees 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday means that their frustrating form this season has continued as they have taken just eight points from their opening eight games.

After spending heavily on the summer transfer period, Everton were expected to challenge for a place in the top four, though they are currently playing as if they will struggle to avoid relegation this season.

Benitez is regarded as one of the best tacticians in World football and has so far done a good job with Newcastle this season.

He will be a good option for the Toffees and the possibility of having improved resources as compared to what is available at the Magpies may appeal to him.

It remains to be seen though whether the Spanish manager will leave Newcastle at this point as fans of the Tyneside club will consider it to be a major betrayal.
