Celtic visit the Allianz Arena on Wednesday to face Bayern Munich on matchday 3 of the Champions League group stage, and it appears they have been handed another lifeline as far as getting a result goes.
Midfielder Javi Martinez has been ruled out of the game after he was withdrawn during weekend’s 5-0 win over Freiburg due a shoulder injury.
Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal could also miss the important clash as he sat out of weekend’s clash due to muscle problems.
The hosts are already without Manuel Neuer, Franck Ribery and left-back Juan Bernat, and while there is enough depth within the squad, that manager Jupp Heynckes isn’t afforded the chance of having the best players available is a blessing for Celtic.
Both sides are level on points following a win and loss apiece, and the double-header between them will most likely decide which team proceeds to the next round alongside group B leaders PSG.
Celtic remain the underdogs against the Germans, but their chances of getting a slim result home or away can’t be ruled out, especially with Bayern now weakened by injuries to few key players.
