Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has no complaints following Wolves defeat

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has admitted that Wolves deserved to win as they beat his side 2-0 in a Championship encounter on Saturday.

Villa struggled to attack during the game and found themselves going behind shortly after the second half through a goal from Diego Jota. Jota who was having an outstanding game eventually managed to pull off some fine play and create a second goal which was scored by Leo Bonatini.

Robert Snodgrass did manage to rattle the cross bar during the second half from a free-kick but overall Wolves were the better side and the win sees them establish a two point lead at the top of the Championship standings above second placed Cardiff City.

After the game, Bruce said: “They played very, very well on the night. I have to say that the best team won, we have to be honest.

“At the top end of the pitch they are a threat and we didn’t have enough ourselves, going the other way, to pose a threat to them – that is the disappointing thing.

“Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say ‘look, we have been beaten by the better team’. We’ll dust ourselves down and get ready for next week (against Fulham at home).”
