Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Manchester United that left-back Danny Rose is not for sale and reiterated that the England international is actually happy at North London.
Rose sparked controversy earlier in the summer after he raised questions over Tottenham’s ambitions and such comments led many to speculate on the left-back’s long term future at North London.
As a result, the 27-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs across England recently and Manchester United have been touted as the favourites to land the attacking fullback during the January transfer window for around £50million.
As a blow to United’s hopes of signing Rose though, Tottenham boss Pochettino took the opportunity in a recent interview to calm down the rumors over the defender’s potential move to old Trafford by saying the England international is happy in North London and is not looking for an exit.
The Argentine tactician said, “It is important now for us and for him to try and get fit for the team. This morning we had a conversation. He is happy,
“It is always important for us to talk. He is an important part of the team. We are happy with the situation. You are talking about rumours. No one is for sale.”
Rose is an important part of the Spurs team despite not featuring for the club since the end of January. Rose’s persistent injury problems as well as good displays from Ben Davies had kept the England international out of the Tottenham starting lineup but he finally looks ready to make a return to the first team fold in the coming weeks.
