Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has expressed some frustration with Barcelona for making their intentions known that they may try to sign Philippe Coutinho during the January transfer window.
Barcelona chief executive Oscar Grau confirmed this week that his club are still interested in signing Coutinho by saying: “we are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market.”
Coutinho was one of the Catalan giants top summer transfer targets after they lost Neymar to PSG. The Brazilian wanted to make the move to Spain and handed in a transfer request in order to try and force through a move, though at the end Liverpool remained adamant that they would not sell.
Klopp will certainly be frustrated by the comments made by Grau as Coutinho is one of his sides key players. He said: “There is another transfer window in January, we cannot change this. I have nothing to say about it. It is an open window. Maybe a few players will change in the future, I have no clue.
“At this moment I am really not interested in the January window. I read a lot about Barcelona in the last few days but it was all about the referendum. Nothing about football. In my opinion they have other problems at the moment rather than what transfers they can make in January.”
