Paul Merson predicts the result of the Manchester United versus Liverpool clash

Football pundit Paul Merson has predicted that the game between Manchester United and Liverpool will end in a draw. United are in top form heading into the game and are a side full of confidence having picked up 19 points from their opening several games.

Liverpool on the other hand have been frustrating to watch and have won just one out of their past several games in all competitions.

Their defence has also been woeful and should they continue being sloppy against United this weekend, in-form striker Romelu Lukaku could punish them severely.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will also have to make do without key player Sadio Mane, who is set to be out for six weeks due to a hamstring injury which he sustained while on duty for the Senegal national team.

Despite Liverpool having their woes, Merson feels that they have what it takes to draw the game due to their home record.

He said: “It will be interesting to see how United approach it. You would like to think, with the squad and firepower they have got, that they will have a go. But we have said that before and they have parked the bus, so we will have to see what happens.

“It’s a big game for Romelu Lukaku. Now he is with one of the big boys he has to perform against the big boys. Manchester United are a better team but Liverpool’s home advantage should help them get a draw.”
