Jose Mourinho explains why he is not surprised by Liverpool star’s stunning success

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has not been surprised by the successful start to life which Mohamed Salah has made at Liverpool.

The 25 year old Salah has so far been a sensation since he joined the Reds this summer from Roma for £31.5 million.

The Egyptian international has so far scored six goals from 11 games in all competitions and has also contributed two assists in the process.

He is also on a good run of confidence after scoring a brace for Egypt during the weekend against Congo to secure a place in the 2018 World Cup for his country.

Mourinho knows Salah having worked with him during their time at Chelsea and the Portuguese boss added that he has not been surprised by the players success at Anfield, saying, “I’m not surprised with Salah’s performance this season.

“I was aware of his great capabilities when he was with me at Chelsea. He improved during his spell at Italy, became more mature and improved physically.

“Players need time to adapt to their new teams. Some of them remain and others prefer to move to another club. It is normal in football.”
