Everton reportedly identify ideal Lukaku replacement in 41-goals-in-53 games star

As per ESPN, Everton are hoping to finally replace the goals of Romelu Lukaku by signing Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost in January.

The Toffees have fluffed their goalscoring chances this term, managing to score just 4 times in 7 Premier League clashes.

The Merseysiders’ ineffectiveness in the final third has seen them pick up just 2 victories and a draw, and they languish in 16th position on the log heading into matchday 8.

Manager Ronald Koeman remains under pressure, and should he remain in job by January, he has plans to swiftly make a move on Dost.

The Netherlands international has been in sublime form in front of goal since switching Wolfsburg for Sporting Lisbon last summer, notching 36 goals in 41 games in all competitions.

Everton scouted Dost during Lisbon’s Champions League clash against Barcelona last month, as the club’s director of football Steve Walsh flew to Portugal to watch him in action.

The 28-year-old is a guaranteed aerial threat, with his finishing and holding on to the ball abilities suitable for EPL football.

Dost will be a perfect fit to lead the Toffees’ line, but landing him won’t come cheap considering Sporting’s recent history in the transfer market.
