According to reports, Liverpool striker Danny Ings had the chance to join Newcastle United this summer.
However, the 25 year old opted to remain at Anfield in order to try and force his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.
Ings earned himself a transfer to Liverpool in 2015 after a series of impressive performances for Burnley. He has however been plagued by injuries since arriving at the Reds and has only managed just 12 goals and three appearances since.
Magpies manager Rafa Benitez was looking for a new striker after Dwight Gayle was linked with a move to Fulham and after moves for Lucas Perez and Divock Origi became increasingly unlikely.
Since returning to action, Ings has not featured in any of Liverpool’s several Premier League games thus far and did not look good when he made his first team return during the Reds Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of Leicester.
