According to reports, Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has suffered a fractured hand after attempting to stop a training ground brawl between captain Jamaal Lascelles and Mo Diame.
It has been said that Lascelles called Diame “lazy” before the two players exchanged blows. Shelvey attempted to stop the fight as a peacemaker but was caught in the crossfire.
The player is now wearing a cast but this should not affect his availability for the Magpies upcoming Premier League clash against Southampton.
The fight occurred just 24 hours prior to the Magpies announcing that Lascelles has been rewarded with a new six year contract at the club.
Despite the fight, Lascelles has been admirably leading the team thus far in the Premiership.
Though they started the season on a questionable not after losing their opening two games, the Magpies have showed resolve to rise to ninth position on the standings with 10 points from several games.
