Sunderland handed a huge injury boost

Stadium of Light

Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has revealed that defender Paddy McNair has returned to training with the club.

McNair has endured a long injury layoff after picking up a serious knee injury last November. Following nine months out, he is now training again.

Grayson revealed that McNair is back in training and could feature for the club during their friendly against German club Hertha Berlin next week.

He said, “Paddy is back training with us now. It might be that he`s pencilled in for some part against Hertha Berlin and it would be a nice boost for us.”

The Black Cats meanwhile lie dangerously in 23rd position on the Championship standings and are in a club that is pretty much in turmoil.

Grayson will certainly be hoping that the return of McNair can help the club to avoid relegation from the Championship this season which looks to be a realistic possibility judging by the way that the club is playing.
