Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has admitted he could sign a left-back in January in order to help provide cover and competition for the currently injured Paul Dummett.
The defender has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during the opening match of the season, and the likes of Chancel Mbemba, Jesus Gamez and Javier Manquillo have filled in at the position thus far.

Matt Targett
The Southampton man is currently the 3rd-choice left-back at the Saint Mary’s, and has yet to play league football this season.
Newcastle dropped interest in a loan deal for the English youngster after the Saints held out for a significant fee, but they are likely to have shifted the goal post, and he remains a fine option for the Magpies.
Nicolás Tagliafico
Newcastle reportedly came close to landing the Independiente left-back during the summer transfer.
