Former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso has revealed that he sees his former team-mate Steven Gerrard as being a future manager of the clubs first team.
After retiring from professional football, Gerrard begun coaching with the Reds academy in February and serves as the clubs under 18 team manager whilst also taking charge of the under 19 team in the UEFA Youth League.
The chances are high that Gerrard will be eyeing the first team managerial role in the far future after he acquires sufficient experience.
Alonso who himself is eyeing a future career as a manager revealed that he can see his former team-mate managing the Reds first team, saying, “I’m following the early steps of his career closely and for sure he has all the attributes to become a big manager and a Liverpool manager one day.
“You can be a great player but being a manager is a different task. For sure, he’s really focused and if he’s able to deliver that message he will be a good one.”
