Jamie Redknapp believes that Everton should drop Sigurdsson

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has revealed that he believes that Gylfi Sigurdsson should be replaced in the Everton starting lineup by Ross Barkley when the England international returns from injury.

The Toffees have endured a miserable start to the season as they have picked up just seven points from their opening several games and currently occupy 16th position and sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Sigurdsson is one of the players who has been performing poorly following his  £45 million arrival from Swansea City this summer.

Barkley’s current contract with the Toffees expires at the end of this season and he has refused to sign a new deal meaning that the club will have to look to sell him in January. Redknapp has however suggested that the 23 year old should replace Sigurdsson when he returns from injury.

He said, “They are also lacking a creative spark. I do not see players in this Everton team with pace who are prepared to take on defenders and go past people.”
