Former Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor has revealed that he is confident that the Magpies can secure a top six finish in the near future under the guidance of manager Rafa Benitez.
Taylor famously helped the Tyneside club finish in fifth place on the Premier League standings in 2012 but the club have struggled to emulate that kind of form during recent years.
In only his first full season at the helm of the club last season, Benitez led the club to the Championship title following the relegation from the Premier League the previous season. So far the club are doing modestly in the League this season with ten points from several games.
Taylor thinks that if Benitez remains at the club, they can finish in the top six in the near future. He said, “I’ve heard some great things about him on the training pitch, how hard he works, behind the scenes. You keep Rafa and you’re only going in one direction.
“When you look at the club as a whole, they’ve got everything. They just need to believe in themselves a little bit more.”
